How it works:
On inbound calls, your customer dials a toll-free number which is routed over the Public Switched Telephony Network (PSTN) to the DOW Networks Gateway and Server.
There, all calls are first packetized as data and then routed to your location over the internet. (Note: each phone call occupies 12k of bandwidth.) Each one of your IP Phones will have a pre-registered public IP address that is stored in the DOW Networks server.
At your location, the packets travel through your router and Ethernet hub to the IP phones and are then converted back into voice calls via the Cisco IP Phone.
On outbound calls, the IP phone converts the voice call into data packets and the whole process is played out in reverse.
One of the unique features of the DOW Networks IP Phone solution is that calls between your IP phones are free. For instance, if you have an IP phone in the United States and an IP phone in China, calls between the two phones are FREE!
* Each IP phone must have an individual static IP address. |
